Our Story

Our story is one of God’s will for our lives. In August 2002, I had two amazing jobs offers. The first one, had an excellent salary in Oak Brook, IL as an HR Manager. The second offer was a good salary but, the salary was $10K less annually at a company in Northbrook, IL. After much prayer, I felt the Holy Spirit guiding me to accept the HR Manager position in Northbrook, despite a lesser salary difference of 10K. I didn’t understand why I was being led to take the position in Northbrook. Nonetheless, I decline the HR Manager position in Oak Brook, then accepted the position in Northbrook. I felt as if I was on assignment from God, but I didn’t know what it was. The Holy Spirit spoke to me to take the position in Northbrook, indicating that God’s purpose & plans for my life would be revealed later. I begin my employment September 2002. David was an IT Director there. We had a lot of contact because David had three open positions for IT personnel in his department. I didn’t like him at first, because he was so demanding regarding me filling his 3 positions. Despite my initial perception of him, we began to hang out after work with another coworker Cicely Whetstone who was the Marketing Manager there. We were three singles parents with kids. We had so much fun hanging out after work bowling, playing games at the local Arcade, and eating dinner together. We ate lunch regularly together also. We were like the three Musketeers. Did I mentioned that I didn’t like him at first? The Holy Spirit spoke told me to reserve my judgment of him, “he’s only this way, the tough and demanding IT Director at work. The more time we spent together, I realized he was fun loving, gentle, kind and gregarious…a lot of the same qualities I possess. One day he asked me if we could go to lunch with just us. He was very nervous & was acting out of character as we drove to the restaurant. He shared with me that he liked me a lot and was interested in pursuing me. I dodged him for 1 1/2 weeks at work, before he came into my office to ask me for an official date. We went on the date, it was wonderful! We officially started dating September 2003. I really enjoyed the time we spent together as learned more about him, discovering we had so much in common. It was then that I started to think he would make a wonderful husband to me and step-father to my kids. To my surprised the following year October 9, 2004, he proposed to me at the top of the Sears Tower…I said yes. The following year October 8, 2005 we married with our children in the wedding. For the last twenty years we have shared a life together as best friends, confidants, & life partners. While we’ve experienced some financial & health challenges within these 20 years, I would not change it for the world! David is my soul mate and friend! God has blessed our union and smiled on us. I am looking forward to twenty more years if that is God’s will.
